Why The Cedar Shack?
The name The Cedar Shack is rooted in a beautiful picture found in Scripture.
In Psalm 29:5, we read:
“The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars; the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.”
In Biblical times, the cedars of Lebanon were prized for their strength, beauty, and durability. They were used to build palaces, temples, and ships, becoming symbols of greatness, human achievement, and pride.
The cedars represent what most people spend their lives pursuing—strength, success, achievement, and the desire to stand on their own. Yet Scripture reminds us that even the mightiest cedar cannot stand before the voice of God. Jesus said, “Apart from Me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5) Everything we have, everything we are, and everything of lasting value comes from Him alone. When we surrender our pride and depend on Him, His strength is made perfect in our weakness.
A shack, on the other hand, is simple and humble. It isn’t impressive by the world’s standards. It is built with ordinary materials, offering shelter without pretending to be something it isn’t.
That contrast is the heart behind The Cedar Shack.
When we stop striving, lay down our pride, and surrender our lives to Jesus, we make room for Him to do what only He can do. He isn’t looking for perfect people. He is looking for hearts that are humble, surrendered, and willing to trust Him.
Like the shack, our earthly bodies were never meant to be our permanent home. We are frail, dependent, and in need of our Creator every single day. Without Him, we have nothing to offer that will last. But when Christ dwells within us, our weakness becomes the very place where His power is displayed.
The world tells us we must earn love, prove ourselves, and have everything together before we are accepted.
Jesus tells a different story.
He meets us in the middle of our mess. He loves us before we’ve cleaned ourselves up. He doesn’t ask us to become perfect before coming to Him. He simply invites us to come.
Through His grace, He restores what sin has broken, heals what we could never heal on our own, and reminds us of the identity He created us to live in. He makes all things new.
All He asks is that we come with humble hearts, willing to surrender and trust that His love is enough.
As the Apostle Paul wrote:
“Each time He said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
Welcome to The Cedar Shack.
Every product we create is thoughtfully crafted with this message at its heart: that apart from Christ we can do nothing, but in Him all things are made new. It is our prayer that each gift box points you to Jesus, inviting you to slow down, draw near to Him, and discover the grace that only He can give.
Because it is in His presence that we truly Rest. Renew. Restore.
"Each time He said, 'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.' So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me."
